Case Against Taking Synthetic Vitamins

What are the risks when taking synthetic vitamins and minerals like calcium and magnesium from rocks and not food?

How do you identify synthetic vitamins or synthetic supplements of any kind?

To answer this question in more detail be sure to email me for me for my FREE nutrition supplement report by going to bottom of this page. It’s free.

A supplement guide is necessary to make sense of all the information that is available about whether supplements are necessary for optimal health. There is also information that makes the safety of synthetic vitamins suspect.

It can be very confusing to decide what to look for when choosing to buy supplements that are effective and safe. The following criteria will serve as a supplement guide when purchasing nutritional supplements.

Let’s look at a controversial study that showed no benefit with the use of supplements.

In this study, the researchers looked at 4 groups of over 8000 women who were taking Vitamins A, C, and E and a placebo. The results showed that there were no differences between the 4 groups. Thus this study showed no protective effects from taking the supplements.

In fact, the study was abruptly ended, because some of the participants had worsening of their health challenges.

In this study, synthetic vitamins, not whole real food supplements were used.

It is very important to note that: NOT ALL SUPPLEMENTS ARE CREATED EQUAL.

Criteria to use as your supplement guide

Synthetic vitamins are not well recognized at the cellular level by your body but food is. Since real food was how the body was designed by God our Creator to get it’s nutrition.

Here is a great example that illustrates this concept real well.

You’ve heard about the English sailors who developed a Vitamin C deficiency en route to the New World. These sailors were nicknamed limey’s because James Lind discovered that citrus fruit took away the symptoms of a Vitamin C deficiency and saved his sailors.

Now, let’s take synthetic, isolated Vitamin C, usually in the form of ascorbic acid. To get rid of the symptoms of a deficiency it takes far more of the synthetic version than from a whole real food source.

The difference is that – in whole foods there are other nutrients that work together to improve the absorption of Vitamin C. So more is not necessarily better especially if it is synthetic. Most synthetic vitamin C is ascorbic acid. Ascorbic acid is just one part (the outer shell) of vitamin C complex. The other parts include ascorbinogen, bioflavonoid complexes, copper, glyco-protein, tyrosine, P factor, K factor and J factor. Other synthetic vitamin C often used is from calcium ascorbate, sodium ascorbate or Ester C.

Many companies use huge amounts of specific vitamins. Don’t be fooled. How much is absorbed into the cells of the body is what is most important.

It’s Easy to Identifying a Synthetic Supplement.

Any supplement that has USP (United States Pharmacopeia) on its label is clearly a synthetic supplement.

Another very helpful clue is if your urine smells like the supplement or is very dark in color much of the supplement is not being absorbed and it is probably synthetic.

The best use of your money is to buy whole real food supplements thats how you were designed to get your nutrition in the first place.

Another word of caution.

In the supplement world, there is a phenomenon called borrowed science. Simply put, this is when a company claims that since it has the same nutrients as another company and then claim the same benefits without doing the clinical studies to validate those claims.Ask for clinical studies or at least ask for the documentation that the makers of the supplement are conducting GMP’s (Good Manufacturing Practices).

GMP’s ensure that products are safe, pure, and effective. GMP regulations require a quality approach to manufacturing, enabling companies to minimize or eliminate instances of contamination, mixups, and errors.

This provides protection to you the consumer from purchasing a product which is not effective or even dangerous.

You know that you are getting what you are paying for.

The most progressive companies will provide 3rd party validation of their GMP’s This is an extra step not required by law to assure that you the consumer is purchasing nothing less than the best.

Not using this supplement guide will result in poor results and a waste of your hard-earned money!

If you car won’t start in the morning what do you do?  If you fix something that’s not the problem it still won’t start.  Same thing is true with health, if you take synthetic vitamins & ground up rocks like calcium carbonate instead of the the the real food your body will still have a problem.

Zinc Lozenges with Vitamin C sold in Health Food Stores

(Zinc With Vitamin C) a popular supplement sold in Health Food Stores all over USA.  This is NOT a quality product and here’s why: The vitamins C is from 2 different synthetic Sources (as ascorbic acid, sodium ascorbate) it is 1000 mg of Vitamin C yet only 20mg (of the 1000) is from a natural source (Acerola Berry). Zinc is from 2 different sources of ground up rocks (zinc gluconate & zinc citrate).  It’s not real food folks it’s dirt. Next we have OTHER INGREDIENTS: listed, 3 different types of sugars all bad (Fructose, Sorbitol, Glucose) then Stearic Acid, finally we have a natural sugar (honey). Silica, Cellulose, Magnesium Stearate, Lemon Flavor (not real lemon) & Citric Acid. People are buying this for themselves and their children thinking they’re getting something real good, what a disappointment.  The last line is what they do not have in the product (NO yeast, wheat, soy, gluten, milk, salt, sugar, starch, preservatives or artificial color) that’s good but the major reason people are buying this product is for Vitamin C and Zinc, and it is synthetic and ground up rocks.  You can get the same and probably even a cheaper product in any drugstore.

Check your label and supplements.
